To be honest, I had never heard of Persil before, though I was familiar with the company that produces it, Henkel. When BzzAgent sent me the coupon for Persil ProClean 2 in 1, I was excited to try it. I got the $5.24 coupon redeemed at Ralphs though it cost $5.99, but the cashier redeemed it for $5.99 and I didn’t have to pay extra for it, it was free.

I had a load of laundry to do and with a newborn, the pile stocks up. Sometimes, newborns have poop accidents and in one such instance, our baby girl left a yellow poop stain on her receiving blanket. I washed it by hand and mild detergent before putting it to the machine, but it did nothing to remove the stain. This is when I decided to try the Persil ProClean Intense Fresh. As per instructions, I dabbed a little Persil on the stain, rubbed it and let it stand for 5 minutes and then put it with my regular, large laundry with quarter cup of Persil. I used the warm water setting with Permanent Press setting on my machine. After the wash and drying sessions, I was surprised to find that the stain was completely gone and my clothes smelled amazingly fresh. I must say I am impressed. So will I buy it? Well, I might if Costco carries it for a reasonable price, because honestly, it is a little overpriced compared to the detergent I buy now.

Pros :

  • It works great on tough stains like baby poop stains and coffee stains.
  • It has a mild and subtle odor, very fresh smelling.
  • It is not harsh on clothes.
  • It is available easily, in most superstores.

Cons:

  • It is a little expensive compared to other detergents.
  • Costco doesn’t carry it.

If I have to rate the product, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
